An Evening to Celebrate Joy, Art, and Nature
After an incredible premiere in Washington, D.C. in November, we were honored to bring our work to Madrid. On December 3rd, we hosted an evening of theater, music, tapas, and joy at the historic Círculo de Bellas Artes. Guests were treated to a moving scene from Terrence McNally’s Masterclass, performed by a talented cast led by Stacy Whittle as Maria Callas. Jesús Daniel Hernández, Eva Marco, Liv Tyndall, and pianist Natasha Belenova joined the cast under the direction of Alberto Frías. The night continued with a lyrical concert of beloved operatic arias, followed by a joyful mariachi sing-along. The atmosphere was filled with the magic that arises when talent, compassion, and beauty come together.
That night in Madrid reminded us what this work is for. People came in, sat down, and let go for a while. One woman told us she had not laughed that hard in years. Others said the same thing in their own words. That is why we do this.
Una noche para celebrar la alegría, el arte y la naturaleza
Después de un increíble estreno en Washington, D.C. en noviembre, tuvimos el inmenso privilegio de llevar nuestro trabajo a Madrid. El 3 de diciembre organizamos una velada de teatro, música, gastronomía y emoción en el histórico Círculo de Bellas Artes. Los invitados disfrutaron de una conmovedora escena de Masterclass de Terrence McNally, interpretada por un brillante elenco encabezado por Stacy Whittle como Maria Callas, junto con Jesús Daniel Hernández, Eva Marco, Liv Tyndall y la pianista Natasha Belenova, bajo la dirección de Alberto Frías. La noche continuó con un concierto lírico de arias operísticas muy queridas y concluyó con un alegre sing-along de mariachi—una atmósfera llena de esa magia que surge cuando el talento, la compasión y la belleza se unen.
Lo que vivimos en Madrid fue más que un evento; fue un recordatorio de la alegría que nace cuando el arte, la naturaleza y la comunidad se encuentran. Este camino nos ha dado muchos momentos de auténtica felicidad, y las reacciones del público reafirman por qué hacemos este trabajo. Una mujer nos compartió que no había reído tanto en años y que no recordaba la última vez que una sonrisa tan grande iluminó su rostro—un sentimiento compartido por muchos más, y que confirma lo profundamente que estos encuentros llenos de corazón resuenan en quienes nos acompañan.
